Reviews of Facebook.com Applications

What is Facebook Pets?
The application was built to allow users to own virtual pets and place them on their Facebook profiles. Once you select a cyber-pet, you can buy gear for them or participate in fights with spiders, scorpions, ants, monsters and other pesky characters. The goal is to gain gold by winning fights and purchase better gear. Your friends can go to your profile and pet or feed them to help you obtain more gold, too.
In a Nutshell
‘Pets’ can be fun and the accessory items you purchase or receive for free are very silly. However, besides being entertaining, the application provides little value. If you have large amounts of free time and are looking for a way to waste it, this application gives you everything you want and more!
Setting it all up
To install this interactive pet app, select ‘Pets’ from the main application list. Once you are on the homepage for the application, click the ‘Add Application’ button. Then, you will be taken to a page where you select the options related to the installation. These options are pretty standard and basically are your preferences for displaying information related to your profile.
After you have selected the installation options, click on the ‘Add Pets’ button. Now you will be asked to select a pet. Once you have chosen a pet, you need to name it. Now you’re ready to buy things or fight the monsters.

Pros
Currently, there are quite a few items you can purchase with your points. Also, you can obtain free items by installing the affiliated Hotlists application. The developer intends to update with more items, monsters and additional features. So far, this application is fun because there are so many options and the possibilities are virtually endless.
Cons
When I first started to play with this application, I got an error message that said ‘Sorry! Petting and Scavenging has been temporarily disabled due to abuse.’ Right away, I was frustrated because you can only perform part of the functions that the application was designed for. In order to gain users and remain a popular application, the developer is going to be forced to curb abuse and make these features available to all pets.
Summary
Once I gave this application a shot, it turned out to be pretty entertaining. Don’t expect a high tech experience, though, because these pets are designed in a cartoon style and the fighting consists of hitting one button until someone is proclaimed the winner. The more wins you have and the higher the level, the easier it is to beat lesser opponents.
