What is Facebook Art?

Art lets you “hang” famous works of art on your Facebook profile. It allows you to choose from over 160,000 pieces, start a gallery and post comments on the art that really moves you.

In a Nutshell

Brighten up your Facebook profile with a colorful or beautiful piece of art.

Setting it All Up

You can easily find Art in the Just for Fun section on the main application page. After you have added the application, you are brought to a home page where you can choose from thousands of works of art.

There are different genres at the top of the page and a search bar to help you focus your art search.

Origin of the Application

Facebook Art was created by Matt Kraft from Northwestern University and Phil Edwards of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Pros

If you like art and want to share your aesthetic tastes with your Facebook friends, this is the application for you. The large selection of work contains modern and classic styles of art. You can choose from landscapes, portraits, illustration and still life pieces, just to name a few. There is also a featured piece of art that appears on the application home page every day.

Cons

This Art application is somewhat limited in the types of art available to users. For instance, I tried to search for some of my favorite photographers and found that they did not include photography in the application at all. It would be great if the developers added more styles and genres of art to please all users.

Summary

All in all, Facebook Art is a great way to add life to your profile. Although they don’t offer every genre of art, there is still a wide range of work to choose from. The application is just for fun, with no real long-term usefulness. It’s just a fantastic way to showcase the art that you appreciate and enjoy.
